Ulises Pizano-Diaz previously worked at a boutique tax law firm where he represented clients in all aspects of tax controversy and litigation, and administrative appeals. His practice focused on both federal and state tax issues including multi-state issues such as “nexus,” non-residency, and apportionment. He also advised non-resident businesses on potential California tax liabilities. Additionally, he also assisted clients with criminal tax matters at both the federal and state level.Ulises also worked in the Pass Through Entities Group at the California Franchise Tax Board (“FTB”). At the FTB, he was responsible for drafting final determination letters, as well as conducting and reviewing tax analysis of partnerships, LLCs, estates and trusts, taxation of real estate transactions and other pass-through entities. In addition, during his time at the FTB, Ulises discovered a widely publicized $100 million tax shelter.
